Database Administrator - Oracle
Purpose
As a Database Administrator, you will apply theories, concepts and principles to difficult but conventional database assignments in both on-prem and cloud hosted environments. This can often be a client facing role so strong communication skills are important. Additionally, in this role you will be accountable for documentation for all database functions.
Essential Functions
Performs database support for both production and development environments, including basic database maintenance tasks, data backups, user account management and basic troubleshooting independently.
Performs database tuning, database design and implementing security measures.
Provide product database support for client installations.
Identify and resolve database issues that impact application performance.
Review and recommend query, procedure, and other optimization improvements in Clinisys applications.
Follows appropriate sign-off and escalation procedures for database changes and version upgrades.
Document routine tasks related to database installations, upgrades, and conversions.
Stay ahead of the latest database versions and features.
Qualify latest database versions for application use.
Craft and deliver basic training materials as assigned.
Prepare reports or correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, or status.
Occasional off-hours work may be required to complete projects.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills
Provide feedback and assist in reviewing others work, particularly less experienced staff.
Knowledge of one or more of the following: Sybase / SQL / Cache IRIS / Oracle database administration
Knowledge in both OLTP and OLAP database designs and administration
Familiarity of other relational database platforms
Proven system administration skills
Innovative thinker with a commitment to improve processes and methodologies
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Excellent client management and client service skills
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related degree
3 years database administration experience in one Sybase / SQL / Cache IRIS / Oracle
Prior exposure to software development processes and/or methodologies
Familiarity with on premise and cloud-based implementations
Work Hours: 5:00 AM IST to 2:00PM IST.
Preferred Experience & Education
Database certification(s)
Prior experience with server class hardware, operating systems, and virtualization
scripting/programming skills as well as comfort with command-line tools for the database platform

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a typical office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards—prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Travel may be required to client sites that can pose risks associated with healthcare organizations.
Moderate lifting/carrying 15-44 lbs.; use of fingers; walking/standing 2-6 hours
May be required to follow customer location health and safety requirements.
