Integration Engineer

Role Description:
The Integration Support Technician assists in deploying, maintaining, and supporting the integration software, routes, and configurations needed to connect Clinisys applications with customer systems. With foundational knowledge of HL7 and integration engines, the Technician works alongside more senior engineers and customers to support, document, and implement workflows. This role involves participating in customer meetings (remotely or in person), documenting basic processes, and helping resolve technical queries under supervision. The Technician maintains project documentation, communicates updates and issues to the project manager, and provides timely support to the Service Desk. They also assist with identifying incremental improvements and participate in continuous enhancement of solutions and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Support
- Assist in understanding customer workflows and help configure Clinisys products as directed by senior staff.
 - Support the implementation process, including communicating with Trust or Customer IT representatives under guidance.
 - Help interpret requirements from the PID and the design documents with close supervision.
 - Assist in building, testing, and validating integration systems before handover to the Service Desk.
 - Support project delivery through to Go Live, working with the project team.
 
Technical & Service Support
- Assist in delivering introductory courses for key pathology users as needed.
 - Provide basic technical support, including handling service requests and escalating complex issues to senior staff.
 - Be available for on-call support as scheduled, under direct supervision.
 
Development
- Support the development of software products by assisting in routine tasks and testing.
 - Help develop and test interfaces to third-party systems as part of integration deployments.
 - Contribute feedback based on customer interactions to senior staff regarding potential software improvements.
 - Take initiative in personal professional development and training.
 - Learn the core functionality of Clinisys products relevant to the role.
 
General
- Follow the guidance and direction of the Domain Lead for Integration and senior engineers.
 - Promote a team-oriented and customer-focused approach.
 - Participate in training sessions and attend team meetings as required.
 - Support the knowledge base and assist colleagues where possible.
 - Comply with Clinisys codes of conduct, policies, and quality assurance measures.
 - Be proactive in learning about integration-related regulations, products, and technologies.
 - Perform other duties as assigned that are appropriate for an entry-level position.
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong willingness to learn and perform assigned tasks in challenging circumstances.
 - Basic verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues.
 - Demonstrates commitment and takes initiative when required.
 - Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
 - Basic customer service aptitude.
 - Some experience with IT or software support is an advantage.
 
Required Experience & Education
- Associate degree in computer science or related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
 - Exposure to HL7 or integration support in a healthcare environment
 - Knowledge of JavaScript, Java, or .Net
 - Basic networking skills (TCP/IP, firewall) are desirable.
 - Experience supporting or deploying healthcare interfaces (NHS or similar)
 - Willingness to pursue additional certifications (e.g., Rhapsody Associate) upon joining.
 
Shift Timings:
This is a full-time position covering core UK hours, Monday to Friday.
