Vice President of Contracts
Purpose:
The Vice President of Contracts (VP-Contracts) is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s contracting strategy to enable business growth, compliance, and operational excellence. This role oversees all aspects of contract management, including negotiation, administration, risk mitigation, and adherence to regulatory and legal requirements. The VP-Contracts partners with executive leadership to align contracting practices with corporate objectives, ensuring agreements deliver measurable value, protect the organization’s interests, and support a scalable, efficient, and compliant contracting environment. The VP-Contracts also leads a high-performing contracts team, fostering a culture of integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions:
Contract Strategy & Vision
Define and execute the organization’s contracting strategy aligned with business objectives.
Drive initiatives to optimize contract lifecycle management and enhance operational efficiency.
AI & Agentic Process Leadership
Lead the enterprise adoption of Artificial Intelligence and agentic workflows to automate complex processes and enable intelligent decision-making.
Develop and implement an AI roadmap that aligns with business priorities and drives measurable outcomes.
Contract Governance & Risk Management
Establish policies, standards, and frameworks for contract creation, negotiation, and administration.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and corporate requirements while managing contractual risks.
Negotiation & Agreement Leadership
Lead complex contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and protect organizational interests.
Develop strategies for managing high-value agreements and strategic partnerships.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
Oversee adherence to federal, state, international, and industry-specific regulations impacting contracts.
Implement processes to monitor compliance and mitigate exposure to legal or financial penalties.
Contract Lifecycle & Systems Management
Manage the design, implementation, and optimization of contract management systems and tools.
Ensure processes are scalable, reliable, and support timely execution of agreements.
Budgeting & Financial Stewardship
Develop and manage budgets for the contracts function, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Negotiate vendor agreements and optimize contractual terms to maximize ROI.
Leadership & Talent Development
Build and lead a high-performing contracts team, fostering innovation and collaboration.
Promote continuous learning and professional development within the IT organization.
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with executive leadership and business units to align contracting practices with strategic priorities.
Communicate contracting strategy, risk posture, and performance metrics to senior management.
Data & Analytics Enablement
Champion data-driven insights for contract performance, compliance, and risk management.
Ensure accurate reporting and analytics to support informed decision-making across the organization.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate contractual terms, assess risks, and develop actionable strategies.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the $180,000-$200,000 annual base salary range. However, the successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the exact starting pay may be above or below this range.
