Position Summary
As a Senior Database Engineer at Clinisys, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of complex database systems. This includes ensuring data integrity, security, performance, and availability, leading projects, mentoring engineers, and making strategic decisions regarding database architecture and infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with data architects, software engineers, DBAs, and other business stakeholders to ensure best practices in schema design and optimization for the product. This role requires a proactive and resourceful individual with a solid understanding of database and schema design, performance tuning, production application development, and cloud architecture.
Essential Functions
· Design and enhance database systems supporting SaaS applications, considering high availability, performance, and security of database environments.
· Effectively utilize AI technologies to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues across Oracle, SQL Server, and Sybase, ensuring minimal downtime.
· Advise software engineers on schema design practices.
· Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and query execution issues.
· Diagnose issues related to replication, data corruption, and storage optimization.
· Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to uncover root causes.
· Develop comprehensive backup and recovery strategies.
· Collaborate with software development teams to integrate database solutions with applications.
· Troubleshoot database performance and implement improvements as needed.
· Stay up to date with the latest cloud-managed database technologies and best practices.
Skills needed to be successful
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
· At least 5 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator or Engineer, with a focus on Oracle databases, schema design, and product development.
· Experience with monitoring using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
· Experience with DataGuard and Oracle DR/BC configuration.
· Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
· Experience with healthcare and/or laboratory software is highly desired.
· Exposure and understanding of compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR, HIPAA) and industry standards.
· Experience with cloud database platforms; Azure managed database experience is highly desired.
· Experience in implementing high-availability solutions such as clustering, mirroring, and replication.
· Experience with high traffic and highly available website architectures and operations.
· Familiarity with database monitoring tools and automation techniques for proactive issue resolution.
· Strong understanding of software product development and related processes.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Required Experience & Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
· 5+ years of experience in database administration or engineering.
· Experience with Oracle and cloud database platforms.
Preferred Experience & Education
· Experience with Azure managed database platforms.
· Experience with SQL Server and/or Sybase.
· Experience in healthcare, laboratory, or life sciences domains is highly desired.
· Certifications such as:
o Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
o Oracle Certified Professional
