Senior Network Engineer
Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Sr. Network Engineer to lead the design, deployment, and security of our enterprise network infrastructure—both on-premises and cloud. This role requires hands-on expertise in configuring and managing Firewalls, Switches, SDWAN, and implementing Zero Trust Network architectures. The Sr. Network Engineer will ensure optimal performance, resilience, and security across all network environments, supporting business continuity and digital transformation initiatives.
Job Summary:
Manage and maintain essential IT operations and network infrastructure. Serve as the escalation point for IT helpdesk and network teams. Oversee daily monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all network resources, systems, and key processes, including scheduled backup jobs, compliance checks, and firmware updates. Proactively monitor network performance and provide capacity planning and optimization recommendations. Participate in scheduled IT maintenance and execute assigned tasks. Research and recommend new technology solutions. Deliver high standards of service by providing solutions to user requests and prioritizing tasks accordingly. Collaborate with the IT System Engineering team on projects and assignments.
Primary Responsibilities-
· Partner with team members and other groups within IT and organization to engineer a scalable network design
· Ensure the continued smooth operation of the global network infrastructure
· Perform standard network administration duties, including network hardware installation, i.e. switches, firewalls, network/security devices installs and patch management, network problem determination and resolution, log analysis, etc.
· Implement and maintain Zero Trust Network models, including segmentation, identity-based access, and continuous monitoring.
· Configure, test, and maintain network hardware (switches, firewalls, routers, SDWAN devices) from vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, and SonicWALL.
· Monitor network performance and resolve issues using advanced diagnostic and monitoring tools
· Implement and support monitoring services, using network monitoring and management tools.
· Lead network security initiatives, including firewall configuration, policy enforcement, and threat mitigation.
· Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal security policies.
· Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to IT teams.
· Assist in maintaining other essential IT operations, Servers and Storage, Virtualization including operating systems.
· Troubleshoot and maintenance of business systems, including servers, operating systems, Servers and Storage, Virtualization from a network perspective.
· Maintain backup and restoration operations for critical network infrastructure.
· Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
· Respond to requests from your line manager and support the IT function and systems on a day-to-day basis
· Administer all incidents raised with the IT Engineering queue and ensure high levels of incident ownership and resolution
Skills needed to be successful.
· Advanced experience with Cisco Layer 3 Ethernet switching.
· Advanced experience with Palo Alto Firewall
· Hands-on expertise in configuring and managing enterprise network infrastructure, including Firewalls, Switches, SDWAN, and VPNs.
· In-depth understanding of Zero Trust Network concepts and practical implementation.
· Ability to script and work at a command-line interface (CLI).
· In-depth understanding of network hardware platforms and their specifications in the datacenter space.
· Scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible) are a plus
· Sound working Knowledge of Cisco, SonicWALL, Palo Alto, SDWAN technologies.
· Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and cloud networking (Azure, AWS, GCP)
· Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMWare and Microsoft Hyper-V.
· Excellent communication and documentation skills.
· Adaptability and flexibility to changing demands, with the ability and willingness to work independently.
ReRequired Experience & Education
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information systems or related field.
· Minimum seven years’ experience as Network Engineer within an IT or software provider organization.
· Network Certification by any OEM like Cisco, Or Palo Alto. is mandatory.
· Certification on SDWAN or Zero Trust Network is an additional plus
· Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience providing the knowledge/skills/abilities listed above may be substituted.
