Principal UI Designer
Purpose
As a Senior/Principal UI Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping our software products to create exceptional user experiences. Your focus will be on understanding user needs, partnering with product and development to execute on goals, and applying your senior level design skills to ensure that interactions with our software are intuitive and enjoyable, in line with company branding and our established Design System. To be successful in this role you need to be an analytical and creative designer with a passion for creating intuitive user interfaces in systems with complex workflows and information-rich screens. You will help improve the user experience for the existing software and create a vision for the screen designs of the whole application and how to iterate towards a modern UI and apply a minus mindset to improve usability.

Essential Functions
Owning the Design System and ensuring that designs and development follow established components
Leading the charge in ensuring UI consistency, and updates to the Design System, templates and patterns as products evolve
Developing and executing design direction and creative strategy for product design work
Participate in design strategy decisions, including leveraging AI in workflows
Designing visual design assets, including design comps across Clinisys products
Communicating with multiple departments to gather information and collaborate on products
Collaborating with product managers, engineers, stakeholders and your design team members to manage workflow, and create high-quality design assets
Working efficiently and independently to stay on track with timelines, and manage priorities
Translate functional requirements to a user-friendly software design
Applies knowledge of industry, domain, workflows, and personas to create designs and customer journeys that reflect user needs in line with the strategic direction and scope of the product roadmap

Are proficient with Figma
Have experience and solid knowledge and understanding of AI, and how AI can be leveraged and applied to User Experience Design process and workflow

Be able to understand the functionality, workflows, interactions, and client usage for the assigned product and ability to translate this in a UI design and customer journey.
Ability to comprehend complex software systems and workflows and apply a minus mindset in order to simplify existing screen designs and workflows to improve usability

Drive and persistence to seek information and take actions necessary to accomplish a goal.
Required Experience & Education
Bachelor’s degree in graphic/interface design or related discipline, or have equivalent relevant work experience
Knowledge and training in UI/UX concepts such as responsive design, design systems and AI
Experience with informing, creating and maintaining Design Systems
Conducting workshops and interviews to gather design requirements and feedback on wireframes or designs
10+ years’ experience with the following:
Communicating with technical and subject matter experts
Software development life cycle and agile software delivery of interactive products
Working in a commercial software engineering environment
Creating designs in UI design tools such as Figma or Sketch (or similar alternatives)
Preferred Experience & Education
Knowledge of scientific data software, medical devices, or healthcare software
Experience designing commercial software

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Up to 10% travel may be required.
Use of fingers
Walking/standing 2-6 hours
May be required to follow customer location health and safety requirements.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $140,000 - $185,000 for annual base salary. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.
