Purpose

As a Project Manager, you will partner with external clients, including public health, environmental, and toxicology laboratories, to successfully plan and deliver Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) implementations. You will be responsible for developing project plans, managing deliverables, ensuring stakeholder alignment, maintaining project documentation, and providing accurate project reporting.

A key focus of this role is delivering high-quality implementations while serving as the primary point of accountability for project success throughout the customer engagement lifecycle. The Project Manager collaborates closely with development, product management, application engineering, services, and sales teams to plan, coordinate, and execute complex projects. This role requires strong project leadership, an understanding of laboratory operations and regulatory environments, and the ability to leverage AI-enabled tools, automation, and data-driven insights to improve project execution, communication, risk management, and customer outcomes.

Essential Functions

• Lead the planning, organization, and execution of assigned projects with full accountability for achieving scope, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction objectives.

• Manage implementations for public health, environmental, and toxicology laboratory customers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and laboratory operational workflows.

• Proactively establish and manage expectations with internal and external stakeholders regarding scope, deliverables, timelines, risks, dependencies, and project status.

• Drive executive-level communications and effectively present project updates, risks, mitigation strategies, and recommendations to customer and internal leadership teams.

• Utilize project management best practices, Clinisys methodologies, and data-driven decision-making to deliver successful project outcomes.

• Leverage AI-enabled tools and automation technologies to improve project planning, forecasting, status reporting, documentation quality, knowledge management, and operational efficiency.

• Conduct reviews of project schedules, resource plans, forecasts, risks, and project team performance to ensure project objectives are achieved.

• Partner cross-functionally to ensure seamless customer handoffs and successful delivery across implementation, validation, training, and go-live activities.

• Analyze project and operational processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and AI-assisted workflows.

• Support organizational initiatives related to project governance, delivery excellence, and customer success.

Skills Needed to Be Successful

• Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 applications, project management tools, collaboration platforms, and business productivity software.

• Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, generative AI solutions, workflow automation tools, analytics platforms, or similar technologies) to improve project management effectiveness and operational efficiency.

• Working knowledge of public health, environmental, toxicology, and reference laboratory operations and workflows.

• Understanding of LIMS, instrument integrations, application interfacing, data management, and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to influence positive outcomes with internal and external stakeholders and drive progress across complex implementation engagements.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify project risks, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities.

• Experience managing multiple concurrent projects within a matrixed organization.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, laboratory personnel, executives, and government stakeholders.

• Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and ability to work independently while managing cross-functional project teams.

• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, techniques, governance practices, and customer engagement management.

Required Experience & Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Informatics, Public Health, Information Systems, Laboratory Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of three (3) years of project management experience leading software implementation projects and managing client engagements. –

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience partnering with executive-level customer stakeholders, including directors, laboratory leadership, or government/public-sector organizations.

• Experience supporting laboratory, healthcare, public health, environmental, or scientific software implementations.

• Experience utilizing AI-enabled tools, automation platforms, or advanced analytics to improve project delivery and operational effectiveness.

• PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification, or ability to obtain certification within two years of employment.

Preferred Experience & Education

• Experience working with Public Health Laboratories, including state, regional, municipal, or federal public health organizations.

• Experience supporting environmental, water quality, toxicology, newborn screening, epidemiology, or disease surveillance laboratory programs.

• Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS/LIS) implementation experience, preferably with Clinisys or comparable laboratory informatics platforms.

• Familiarity with public-sector procurement, governance, compliance, and funding environments.

• Experience implementing AI-assisted workflows, reporting, process automation, or decision-support tools within healthcare or laboratory organizations.

• Knowledge of laboratory regulatory and quality frameworks and public health reporting requirements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

A successful candidate will combine strong project management expertise with direct experience supporting Public Health Laboratory organizations, a solid understanding of laboratory informatics and LIMS implementations, and the ability to leverage AI-powered tools and automation to increase delivery quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

• Work is performed in a normal or remote office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Up to 25% travel may be required.

• Travel to client sites that can pose a risk.

• May be required to follow customer location health and safety requirements.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $80,000 - $100,000 annual base salary. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.
